Beas Kund Trek

Resting in the laps of Kullu Valley the Beas Kund is said to hold more to it than just beautiful serene waters. The Beas Kund is known to carry with it a holy essence as Rishi Vyas is said to have used this lake to wash up himself in times that go back to thousands of years. The river Beas marked as an important river in the history of India flows through the trail of the Beas Kund trek. It is said that during Alexander’s attempts to invade India, he wasn’t able to cross the Beas River which saved the country from heavy losses.  Apart from historical and sacred importance this trek has many other reasons that keep attracting mountaineers and trekkers from around the globe. The trek is 30 km long and is completed within a span of 4 days. This nominates the trek for a perfect weekend getaway for someone who is seeking out for adventure or for the simple craving of spending a few days in the Himalayas away from the everyday monotony of life.

The fact that this 30 km long trek is finished in short 4 days which includes thin atmosphere, low oxygen levels, weather extremes and of course the steep climbs and descents poses hurdles for trekkers who came unprepared. The trek demands high levels of stamina as each day is comprised of minimum 7.5 km of trekking. The ever stretching Pir Panjal range embedded with peaks of Hanuman Tibba, Friendship peak and Shitidhar that guard the Beas Kund trek making it seem like it’s a different world altogether with clear blue skies, unhindered views of far reaching Himalayas coated with pink hues of sunlight and white sheets of pure snow adding to the final serenity.
